Why do I still have a bad taste in my mouth 2 wks after my wisdom tooth surgery?
Question:
I was at the dentist last week.
Answers:
the areas where the teeth were removed are still holes that are filling in from the inside out- which means, there is bacteria and food debris back there. usually we give our patients a plastic syringe for you to help flush out the germs in there -with warm salt water.
i do not beleive you have a dry socket or an infection
Other Answers:
You should go back to the dentist or at least call. Sometimes a piece of packing material (swab) gets left in the socket and bacteria collecting there provide the bad smell/taste.
Yes.you could have an infection, possibly even dry socket..Go to the doctor! When I had my wisdom teeth removed I lost one of the blood clots that was supposed to help me heal faster. I don't remember a bad smell or taste but I do know that my dentist told me that if anything like that happened to call him and make sure he got a look at it. It turned out that that missing blood clot caused a whole where the tooth used to be and it was getting packed full of food etc. It could have caused infection and bad smells if I hadn't of gotten to the dentist when I did. Talk to your dentist he is the only one who can give you peace of mind and make sure that there is nothing wrong.
Gargle some salt with water.. And def buy a tongue cleaner that kills alot of bacteria which can also leave a bad taste in your mouth. And try to eat more with the opposite side of your mouth to lessen the food that will end up in the hole.
