How long does the swelling take to come down after a maxillofacial surgery?should i take some meds to aid it?

Question:
The surgery was done around one month back and there is substantial swelling still accompanied by difficulty to chew and numbness on my face.help me out with an answer .fellow-sufferers or people in the know how

Answers:
"Maxillofacial surgery" is a specialty of dentistry.

If you had corrective jaw surgery, it would be called "orthognathic surgery", and continued swelling (provided it is decreasing) is normal. If all you had was your wisdom teeth removed, then your symptoms would be abnormal.

Numbness of your face, i.e. below your eyes and the right and left halves of your chin and lower lip are normal, for a while. Nerve injuries, temporary or permanent, are a distinct possibility with orthognathic surgery, and your doctor almost certainly discussed the risks with you beforehand.

I was gonna say ice;;; then I saw the one month thingy. Could be somethin' scary.. did the dr. tell you of possible side effects such as what you are experiencing? Have you checked with the surgeon's office??Either that or a lawyer.. Good luck, and please be serious, this could be life changing
