Can you change the color of a porceline crown tooth.?
Question:
Answers:
If it is cemented already nothing can be done about the color. If he has not cemented it, he/she can send the crown back to the lab and they can re-shade it until the color is as close to matching the other teeth around it. Usually the shape of the tooth will not change when you send it back to re-shade.
Other Answers:
no
Unfortunately there is no way of changing the color of the crown, less you have it taken off and remade. You dentist should have let you see the crown in your mouth and let you decide if the shade was right, of course he or she should have also seen it didn't match. The appropriate thing would have been to send the crown back to the lab so they could change the shade. Sometimes the dentist even has a lab technician come in the office and look at you to determine the correct shade.
Sorry it is the wrong shade, you should contact your dentist and see if your can work together to make it right, but unfortunately that would probably necessitate the crown being removed.
Shading of front teeth is somewhat of an art since it is so important and anytime you have 2 crowns next to each other, unless you have them done at the same time, you cant guarantee the color will be the same, even if send out with the same instructions because of changes in the batch of porcelain and technicians working. That is why when a cosmetic case is done they do it all at once to guarantee it will all match.
