How does laughing gas affest you at the dentist?

Will you feel a needle going into your gums if you are on laughing gas? What will it feel like? R U sleeping or can you hear/see whats going on around you?

It really shouldn't make you "laugh", you just feel very relaxed, almost the way you would feel right before you drifted off to sleep, although you should not sleep, if you do you need to turn down the nitrous, but should feel floaty, and like ahhhhhhh........, and yes you will hear and see everything that is going on around you!!

they don't use laughing gas at the dentist. It makes you laugh and you wouldn't hold still. They do use it for women sometimes when they are in labor.

I had teeth pulled at the dentist and it all of a sudden hit me. The novacaine shot I couldn't feel, just felt the pressure of it. I was literally laughing and I couldn't lift up my hands because I was so weak. It was like being high in a very good way. Everything was funny and I was concious of what was goign on, just couldn't feel it.

Local anaesthetic (needle) OR general with N20 it's one or the other.

They do use laughing gas at the dentist. It relaxed me almost to the point of drifting off to sleep. I'm not saying that it does put you to sleep, it just relaxes you. You will still feel the needle but it won't be a big deal.

It makes you laugh and when you laugh, you open your mouth. Then the dentist can go in and inflict inhumane pain on you. Sounds terrible I know but you'll laugh about it later

Kinda like you have had 4 Margaritas! You are just fine with everything and not scared at all. You still know what is going on around you and you can feel the densist working in your mouth but it doesnt hurt at all.

Nitrous oxide aka laughing gas is an anelgesic not an anesthetic. It helps you tolerate the pain of the injection more. Most often they will still give you an injection of lidocaine to numb the tooth. The nitrous makes most feel floaty...but has different reactions in different people. There are some people who cannot be put on nitrous because it makes them frantic. Other health conditions can also prevent use of nitrous. Nitrous does not work well in adults and does not work well with patients who are extremely nervous beforehand. Nitrous does not put you to sleep, it is very safe and exits your body with very few side effects in minutes

You don't feel the pain when you get the bill.
