I had heart surgery and now I HAVE A CROWN THAT HAS BROKEN OFF AT THE GUM LINE .SHOULD i BE WORRIED OF INFECTI

MY DENTIST IS PUTTING ME OFF FOR A MONTH AT LEAST. I HAVE A HEART VALVE,WONDER IF THIS IS DANGEROUS.

Is it normal for a dentist to 'procasinate' and 'put off things'?

Answers:
Yes, I would speak to your MD about an antibiotic; you can get something called bacterial endocarditis that can damage the valves and muscles in your heart. This bacterial infection can travel from mouth wounds which is why you are supposed to have an antibiotic before dental work if you have certain heart conditions.

i am very much interested to go on research in dental surgery. particularly in implanting an tooth germ .?

Yes, in that time it could get infected. In 2weeks it could cut, swell up, and leak weird puss stuff. Your dentist is crazy!! Get a new dentist or go down to the office and demand treatment, or tell the other staff members that this is the deal, and that you need help. You could get him fired, since he's/she's so crazy!

Perhaps, you need medicine or a antibiotic, ask your dentist if you could get help any sooner, or why you need to wait a month...

What is the best toothbrush to buy ?

If you have no pain or swelling, then you are quite safe for the month. Just keep up your usual hygiene.
Your mouth is teeming with bacteria, and every time we brush we cause some bacteria to enter the bloodstream. For most of us this is insignificant. But if you have bleeding gums from inadequate cleaning, then you will have a greater risk. This is the most likely cause of bacterial colonisation on heart valves.
More and more research is questioning the use of pre-treatment antibiotics, and it seems that in the near future the British will drop this requirement. There is a greater risk of an allergic reaction to the penicillin than the risk of endocarditis.
However, as the rules in US currently stand, it is still a requirement before any invasive treatment.

what happens if you dont get a cavity treated?

If your dentist SAW your tooth and said it would be okay for a month, I trust that judgement. If your dentist did not take a look at your tooth, I would ask for a FIVE MINUTE visit just to get it looked at. Please stick to the five minutes you requested, though. I don't think a dentist can judge the condition of a tooth without looking at it. If I had a heart valve, I would want a definitive answer now. An "open" tooth is at risk for infection, even if it has had root canal treatment.
