What should i do when?

Question:
I have an impacted canine, which means my adult canine will never come through. I will alway have my baby canine untill it falls out in like 30 years. I have two choices, let it go, or have it removed and replaced. What should i do?

Answers:
The choice for what the best treatment is depends on your particular situation, so this is speculative on my part.

It depends on what your baby canine looks like. If it isn't horribly small and you are satisfied with the appearance, the easiest thing to do is leave it there and hope it lasts forever. I've seen that happen more than a couple of times.

If you don't like the way it looks, get rid of it and have a replacement made. For a single missing tooth, I like to think "implant," but if the permanent tooth is up there, this will probably not be possible in your case. You will have to consider whether you want a conventional bridge, a bonded bridge (such as a Maryland bridge) or a removeable partial denture. Choosing the best way to go is very individualized and requires a conversation with your dentist.
