How long do I have to wait to see results after getting braces?

Question:
Sometimes I feel as if my braces aren't working even though it's only been two weeks since I got them. I keep looking in the mirror for changes. When will I see them?

Also how long will it take for my gap to close on my top incisors? It's not very wide.

Answers:
Personally, my teeth were really bad. I looked like a bunny rabbit! Since my teeth were so bad, after two weeks, I began to see some minor changes. But in your case, it might take a few months before you see any difference. Don't worry, though because after two years of braces, you'll have close to perfect teeth like most everybody else who has had braces!

Other Answers:
It takes months, not days or weeks, to see the changes.

it shouldnt take very long for your results like a month or so. You won't see any changes. I have them.
The changed are so gradual that you will not see them unless you take a photo of before and after.

You've got a wait on your hands (or across your teeth), but it's worth it. My orthodontist told me it would take six months to straighten my teeth, but it took a total of two years. I know others who have had braces for four years. The orthodontists always tell you a shorter time period so you won't back out. about 18 months.sux, but you'll like the results!

for me. it was about a week before I noticed changes then about a month before I saw HUGE results

ORTHODONTISTS USUALLY PUT PATIENTS ON A 2 YEAR PLAN, THAT WAY THE PAYMENTS ARE NOT TOO HIGH. FOR MAJOR PROBLEMS, LIKE GAPS, IT WILL TAKE THAT LONG. EVERY MONTH YOU WILL GET YOUR BRACES TIGHTENED. IT IS A LONG PROCESS. TEETH ARE PRETTY IMPLANTED IN PLACE, AND THE MOVE IS VERY GRADUAL.
