My friend took his son to Des Moines last year to get braces... the cost was approx. $4000. They went there because it was cheaper to go there then here which would have been about $3000 more.

It's a very vague question with a bunch of different possibilities. What type of metal? Clear, gold, titanium, etc... Hidden behind the teeth or exposed? Extensive repair before braces can be attached or not much? The list goes on and on. Age also has a big part in the price. It's real cheap to get an exam and determine exactly what's needed and then start looking for an orthodontist who is reasonable.
