Root canal is driving me crazy?

Question:

I had a root canal done today and needless to say, Im HURTING at the moment, and the dentist didnt give me any meds for it, I have oral gel but it's not working. Does the pain last for days? I have taking my limit of motrin, now Im thinking about cutting my head off so it will stop. :(

Very normal for the tooth to be very tender for 24-48 hours. If it doesn't get better, call the dentist and let him know. If you are in that much pain, call the dental office and there should be a way to get a hold of someone over the holiday weekend. Don't call tonight though.it's too late. good luck

take some advil let your dentist know your pain, maybe they'll prescribe something.. but the pain should last around a week.

I got one done not to long ago and it never hurt me that bad but my doctor also gave me Vicatin so I was knocked out on a high dosage of pain killers for a week. Lol. So I didn't feel anything but let your doctor/dentist know and they should prescribe something and if they won't take some advil and suck on ice. Don't chew on it though especially on that tooth.

that sucks .try tylenol . I hurt from my ear to my lips for about three weeks after my last root canal.
