I've had my teeth professionaly whitened and I like to use Crest whiting strips occasionally, is this bad?

Question:
I had my teeth professionally whitened when I was about 14 years old, I'm now 24 and I use crest white strips occasionally, could this be bad for my teeth? Sometimes I feel a pain when I am whiting them. Can I be damaging my enamel??

Answers:
It is not bad for your teeth. A professional whitening is usually good for about a year, depending what kind of foods and drinks you are consuming. Alot of people whiten thier teeth regularly, every year or so. Make sure you are following the directions and are not leaving them on longer than they should be. Teeth do become sensitive during or after whitening. Take a break for a day if they are very sensitive. You can use toothpaste like sensodyne for sensitive teeth and just rub it on where it's bugging you. Whitening doesn't damage the enamel, unless you use those whitening toothpastes which contain abrasives, and shouldn't be used in a regular cleaning routine.
It's not bad for you, but if you get sensitivity (as you describe) then you've done enough plus one. Use some sensitivity formula toothpaste for a few weeks to control that.
