my gums are receeding from my teeth, any ideas to stop it?

Question:

Answers:
I used to be a dental assistant and what my dentist normally advise is using your finger and massage downwards(if it's upper teeth) or upwards(if it's lower teeth). (With clean fingers of course) And you should be using soft bristle toothbrush instead of hard. The way you brush your teeth will cause receding as well. You shouldn't be brushing hard from left to right. It should be 45 degree towards your gums and flip downwards/upwards. The best is still seeing your dentist as he would be able to see your condition better.

See a dentist.?

go to a dentist . thats a disease. You should probably go see a dentist. Especially if it is painful.

How you stop it depends on why it is happening. Do you go to the dentist for regular (at least every 6 months) cleanings, x-rays, and exams? If you do, great! If you don't, you need to start. A dentist or dental hygienist can evaluate the condition of your receding gums and determine the cause, then prescribe a treatment and preventive measures that you can take at home.

Yes - use an electrical toothbrush with sonic.

In case you have mercury fillings, have them replaced by ceramics or plastic (not gold) by a specialist - this helped me a lot.

And eat sugarless sweets or have chewing gums with mint flavour, so the amount of spite rises.

Good luck! You need to see a dentist. They are the only ones that can fix it.
