This question is for any dentists out there...?

Question:
Here's the problem: I am terrified of returning to the dentist. My last dentist caused SEVERE problems for me. He had to remove a non-impacted maxillary wisdom tooth due to a small cavity. It was NOT impacted, but he said he'd prefer to see it out rather than fill the cavity, as that tooth was not in a position to chew. So, he used an elevator to remove it, and in the process BROKE (basically shattered) the outer-facing bone of the socket in the maxilla. After 12 hours, the pain was so intense I had to reach along the gum with my finger and massage the fragments back into place. I felt HE should have done it during the procedure, not me hours later. Next time, the same dentist was injecting me with lydocaine in the mandible, on the inner side next to the tongue, back in molar country. He hit a nerve with the needle, and my tongue was dead for a week.
I can't have most gen anesthesia; I get violently sick. HELP? How can I get my teeth fixed without being tortured? Thanks.
