anyone had an auto genous bonegraft in jaw prior to implant if so was it successful and how long to heal?

Question:
taking tentative first step to implant tooth and not sure of health risks costs and cant see any alternative

Answers:
Need to know a) where the implant is going and b) where are you harvesting bone from.
IMHO a lot of implants can be placed without bone grafting and all the hassle involved. It pushes the cost up and makes the whole thing a bit of a pollava. If you really need an autogenous bone graft it should heal in a very short space of time - say 1 or 2 weeks but you will have to wait a few months before implant placement. There's very little risk of surgical complications but expect to add 30 - 50% of the cost of an implant alone.
Good luck!

Other Answers:
that means they are going to harvest bone from your chin, ramus, or hip, grind it up and mush it into the hole where the implant is going. you can go with donor bone (dead person or cow) but who knows if it will take. it definitely won't be recognized by your immune system as well as your own bone.

this is a common procedure so don't sweat it.
