What can make teeth sensative all of a sudden?

Question:
I do see the dentist on a regular basis. And just this week my teeth have been very sensative to hot and cold. What could be causing this?

Answers:
4 things: Over whitening(or just whitening in general)
2. Brushing with a paste that is too abrasive(that contain too much grit).
3. Mouth wash(like Listerine) , actually eats away at your dentin(thick white layer, and can cause sensative teeth)
4.Medication, certain meds, like the"pill", heart meds,etc.

So it's no biggie get some Sensadine tooth paste and try it for a week. G'luck

Other Answers:
abscess ..idk

eating lots of sweet Pregnacy

If you have just seen the dentist then your teeth must be cleaned. Therefore, it will be sensative for a few days.

any recent fillings?

You could have a cavity somewhere in your mouth, or the beginnings of one. Or perhaps you have a crack in one of your teeth. Also make sure your brushing and losing properly to make sure that plague and food are removed so they aren't irritating the gums. If anything pick up some sensidine and see if that helps. Whitening Strips

what usually happens is that food particles, usually spicy or sweet ones, get trapped in your gumline. when this happens they deteriorate and seep into your gums and the nerves or roots connected to your teeth. weakens them obviosly but it should pass after a couple days or so. just floss and drink water and that should speed things up hopefully.

It could be one of two things. Either you have a cavity and every time you eat something hot or cold it gets into the cavity, or, you're pregnant. I would go back to the dentist and have him check it out. If he can't find anything, I'd take a pregnancy test. Take two of them, but do it over a course of a week or so because you can get false positives. Good luck!

ice cold water, , ,
and may b a nice punch into anyone's teeth can do that It may be from grinding your teeth at night because you do this your wearing away the enamel. Or you might need a fillings (just a thought). But if your teeth feel rugged and sharp on the top then you might be grinding away your teeth abrasively in some sort.
