Question about fluoride in the water.?
Question:
I try to give my 3 yr old daughter water everyday and sometimes add it to her milk hoping that the fluoride will help protect her teeth.
Answers:
Fluoride in the water works by becoming incorporated into the developing tooth as you drink it. It has minimal to zero topical effects. Fluoride in municipal water is optimized to give the correct dose (1 mg) in one quart or one liter of water, so allow for this in your calculations if you are adding fluoride from any other source. A 3 year old should get 1 mg per day.
I am from back east. They actually have a flouride tablet that you can get from your dentist or your family Doctor. I hope this helps.
