Pressure sensitivity in a filling...has anyone else experienced this?

Question:
I had two porclain fillings put in almost a year ago, and 10+ adjustments later I still can't chew anything but soft stuff on that side. My dentist can't find any pressure points with the ink strip she has me bite down on. X-rays show picture perfect fillings, no infection or decay left in the teeth. I'm fed up with taking time off work for MORE adjustments that never make any difference, and now my jaw pops from lopsided chewing. I wondered if anyone else has had this problem before? My dentist comes very highly recommended, she's just never had this happen before...answers from other dentists would be appreciated.

It sounds very much that you have a cracked tooth(or 2!). Are the fillings actual porcelain fillings, composite resin fillings or porcelain crowns? If the teeth are simply filled then i feel the problem may be a hairline crack on one of the cusps so that on pressure the crack is opening therefore stimulating the nerves in the dentine. This could be sorted by trying to identify the crack followed by smoothing of the cusp or placing a crown so that the 2 parts cannot move indepently on pressure. If the teeth are already crowned then a root treatment may be the only option, which decreases the life expectency of the tooth considerably. A good option is to ask for the filling/fillings to be removed and a soothing temporary filling to be placed. This could be left for a few weeks and if the problems settled then a crack is not the problem and new definitive restorations could be placed. Hope this helps!

Not a dentist but I had a similar problem though with an amalgam filling. Turned out there was air trapped. I had a few fillings drilled out in the area where the problem was and replaced. Problem went away. Annoying? You bet.
I'm no a dentist, but I can relate to your situation. Maybe after one more attempt at adjustment, I'd go to another Dentist.
maybe the pulp of ur tooth was damaged during the procedure, for example by too much drying, use hot water&air at work ...
and maybe there is a periodental problem
10 adjustment and you still haven't sought a second opinion. Wow. You only know what your dentist tells you. Go get a second opinion.
