What is the best way to reduce swelling on my cheek from an absess?
Question:
Answers:
You should go back and ask for Antibiotics.
It's common to be given them to take on the morning of your treatment and then afterwards.
Don't leave it to chance. I had a workmate who had the same problem. One side of her face doubled in size and she looked like the Elephant woman. If I hadn't seen it I wouldn't have believed it.

ice reduces swelling.
maybe you could get creative with some make up.?
Hi,,, try a cold compress on it. it should take the swelling down..
good luck..
ICE,
you are going to have to pop it and let the abscess be released. it will hurt, but you will feel better after you've done this.
ice won't work, you have to use a needle and pop it till it bleeds and squeeze the abscess out.
ignore all above.. go back to your dentist!!
You should put some ice on it to reduce swelling or go to your doctor if it persists anti inflamitary may be prescribed

I had an abscess a couple of years ago (it was very painful so I can sympathise with you). I tried taking antibiotics and that reduced the swelling but only temporarily. In the end I just ended up having the tooth out.
You could try rinsing your mouth with warm salty water as that should ease the pain.
I think you should still go out as booze is a good painkiller. Go back to the dentist or doctors on Monday and they'll give you some other options. You never know it might just sort itself out.
Use a mouthwash made from water and common salt - do not swallow
HI. i had the same thing the other week as i was due to have a wisdom tooth took out. but because i had a abscess they would not do it me. i had to be put on a week antibiotics first 150mg then onto 500mg as i left it too late that i need stronger tablets to get rid of it. you can get from your dentist if you ring back to be seen as an emergency to since you had a tooth out. also tablets with ibuprofen helps too with the swelling and pain, I would ring you dentist back if you still haveing problems. hope that helps.
Also as people are saying too, gargle and swill (do not drink) salty warm water made from a bloiling water then cooled down (know it sound stupid to say but some people just use hot tap water that do not work) but that also help with the pain too and got rid of the swelling a little, but it does not take it all away.
Ice will help but if it's really not getting any better get advice from your local emergency dentist. Your own dentist should have details of who can help over the weekend
An abscess is due to an infection. If you have recently taken the tooth out and if that is the etiology of the infection, you will have to allow time for the inflammation/infection to go through its course. Typically, anti-inflamatory and antiobiotics will help. Go back to your dentist, if the swelling persists or your symptoms increase.
ICE OR BAYER ASPIRIN
