cut back the extension on the palate/switch the denture base to metal as opposed to acrylic/even better, do both.

this may be because the posterior part of the denture is positioned too far into your mouth

go to your providing dentist and he will make the necessary in a proffessional way.either cut it shorter or anything else

dont risk toying with your denture it may have catastrophic results

You can try using denture adhesive like fixadent to help keep them in place, the adhesive would keep them from moving around so much which could be what is gagging you. But mostly it is just something you will have to adapt to. Just one of those things.
