What's it Like to Get Your Braces Off?
Question:
Answers:
I just got my braces off a couple months ago. It doesn't hurt at all, they just put this wierd light on and they come right off with pliers. They might have to use a little force, depending on who your orthodontist is. My orthodontist didn't clean my teeth, but he did file off the rough spots left from the cement they use to put the braces on. Good luck with yours!!

They use pliers to pop them off. It doesn't hurt at all, but there is a strong pressure being put on the bracket while it is being pulled off. Then, they clean all the glue off.
I know this sounds strange... but imagine nail clippers clipping them off your teeth. It feels weird and you think they might pull your teeth out sometimes, but they wont.
They do file the glue off afterwords and clean your teeth really good. It really doesn't hurt, but your teeth might be a little sore for a couple of days, so I wouldn't jump into jawbreakers or anything.
The best feeling is really when they are all done... then your teeth as the smoothest they will ever be and after you eat your first meal, you'll stick your tongue up on the outside of your teeth to clean the food out of your braces like usual... and they wont be there!! Everyone will comment on your smile and all your friends who still wear braces will be jealous!
I got mine off and spent the whole day licking my teeth!
Before they let you go though, they'll take a dental impression of your teeth so that they can make you a retainer to keep your teeth where they are. If you don't wear it regularly, they'll move again and that can sometimes hurt...
It doesn't hurt they come off really easy. They use a special bracket pliers that pops them right off. The dentist will clean off the cement that is left behind.
