Does anyone have a child that has had a frenulumectomy?

Question:
This is the cutting of the fold of skin inside the upper lip (the f. labii superioris). My daughter has an overgrowth of this tissue and I am scared to take her to an oral surgeon at such a young age. It has grown onto her gums between her two front teeth causing a gap between her baby teeth. It also has grown the other way onto the inside of her lip slightly. Should I be alarmed? Is she too young to have this procedure? What happens if I wait? Will this affect her adult teeth?

Answers:
Don't do the surgery until she is 5 or 6 and you can see how the maxilla grew. There is zero harm in waiting that late and you might end up not having to put her through it. There is nothing abnormal about a gap between baby front teeth.

I did this procedure to 3 of my neices and nephews as well as about 100 other children over 30 years and it's not a big deal, really, but why do it now when it would be so traumatic for her?
How old?
