does it hurt to get braces on?
Question:
Answers:
It is uncomfortable, but not painful...until they tighten them! After a tightening it hurts for a few days, but Ibuprophen will take the edge off.

No it does not hurt. If it does. Some one is doing their job wrong.
never had them....lol...i always wanted them when i was a lil kid, but my mom never would get them for some reason!! haha!..
if your having to get them...good luck! hope it dont hurt too much!
Not really. At first your teeth will feel a little sore and your mouth will be uncomfortable. The part that hurts most is tightening them and getting them taken off.
The first time, yes it does. And after you get them tightened it hurts, but not bad at all. Just a lil pressure really.
no, getting braces put on is nothing. Press your finger to your tooth, that's what it'll feel like.
But, when the wires start to pull your teeth into shape, it can hurt. You might want to take some painkillers and eat softer foods for the first few weeks.
It does, a bit, yes. It used to hurt a lot more than it does now, techniques and equipment have emproved tremendously since I got them, over 2 decades ago. Be prepared to have some mild discomfort until you get used to them, too. And there are certain foods it's simply not a good idea to eat when you have braces - like corn on the cob, chips, or popcorn - things that are hard, or break into little pieces that can get wedged into your braces can be a problem to them, either breaking them, or getting caught in them.
Just think of how wonderful your smile is going to look when you're done, though, it is also better for your overall health.
No it does not. It feels really painless in fact. Lightly tap and poke the surface of your teeth with the back of a ballpoint pen. That's the most you'll ever feel, just a tap of the utensils they use. Typical metal braces are slathed with a particular type of glue on the back and fused on with a laser-type machine so they stick to your teeth until the doctor removes them. However, when I had them, they've popped off because of really hard toasted bagels, so its certainly not permanent in any way.
What DOES hurt sometimes is the rubber bands they put on to pull teeth closed when you have braces. They just maintain the tightness and the pressure. They put these bands in between your teeth sometimes to space them and those feel tense and might cause jaw pain and gum pain, and the rubber bands make your mouth ache.
k to get the real braces on no it doesn't but if and when they put the spacers it which is just a metal thing that sits on the top of ur mouth that hurts cuz its wedged between two of ur teeth and they make it way in there then they put on the braces then that metal thing has to get tightened 15 times so twice every day until u reach 15 then u just take a break until 6 weeks which will be ur next apt anyways the real braces don't hurt just that metal thing and i barley got them Monday 10 July 2006 so i don't know everything but i do know that i can have gum and really hard or chewy things so yeah anyways bye
