Please help me out with this!?

Question:
ok...i have went to my dentist 3 rimes complaining about my wisdom teeth hurting and stuff and i went to her the day before yesterday and all she had to say about the one that is cutting through the gum is "oh, that boy is cutting in" thats it. she wont take no x-rays or anything. can i just go ahead and make myself an appointment with a maxillfacial surgeon? also tell me anything else that u think i should know please that is important! thank you!

Answers:
I agree with Rogue W. If your dentist is not interested in referring you to an oral surgeon and EXPLAINING CLEARLY WHY NOT, then you are probably able to just call an oral surgeon that a friend or family member recommends and get their opinion about your wisdom teeth. They will take a panoramic x-ray (for about $100) and then charge for the consultation, but at least you will get an opinion.

Other Answers:
definitely get a second opinion. when i had mine removed... none of them were cutting through the gums yet, but they were painful. so realistically, you don't have to wait.

remember there is more than one dentist out there and it's your health that is in question... second opinion girlie!
Well, being a dental health professional myself, I can't judge another professional's opinion. However, if they are HURTING you something needs to be done. Sometimes insurances won't cover visits to specialists (an oral surgeon) unless you have a referral which you need from your general practitioner.

I would TELL them that you want a PANORAMIC RADIOGRAPH taken and a referral to the oral surgeon for your wisdom teeth. That film (x-ray) will be what the oral surgeon needs to remove wisdome teeth. IF SHE REFUSES YOU DEFINETLY NEED TO SEEK A SECOND OPINION! I would imagine that if you WANT to spend money on something there that she won't turn you down! I think you specifically need to ask instead of waiting for her to tell you that you need it.

I can't make an informed opinion or comment about extracting the tooth adjacent to your wisdom tooth because it may have decay or an infection in it...
Seems to me the dentist should know whats going on with your teeth. i would listen to the dentist. Or else go find a Dentist, who will listen to you, and not use their professional opinion. They will just do what you ask, right or wrong.
you need a new dentist. I had 2 wisdom teeth that just would not come all the way, they ended up cutting out. now there is no pain!!
Wisdom teeth can be painful when they are erupting. Doesn't technically mean there is anything wrong with them. Many times it just depends on the Dentist philosophy if they recommend you have them removed or not and when. I would definitly recommend a second opinion.
FYI - It's a lot easier to have wisdom teeth removed while you are young. Do what you can to keep your other permanent molars, they perform more function for you.
I would at least get a second opinion and getting an opinion from a good oral surgeon is a good place to start. With wisdom teeth it is a timing issue, but if you are having problems it is a good indication that you need to have them out. The best advice I can give is to be a sleep when it is done.
