I have heard Listerine can be bad for your teeth...true?

Question:

Answers:
One of my dentists said it is too harsh and can dry the tissues inside the mouth. He also said if it is used, only use it occasionally. The best mouthwashes are newer on the market and contain no alcohol.

Other Answers:
I have never heard its bad, but i've asked several dentists, and all say it doesn't actualy kill bacteria, or help your breath as much as the company claims, if at all.
My son used Listerine for years. He doesn't have any teeth left in his head but he never had halitosis
Could be since it contains alcohol--and alcohol isn't exactly very good for your teeth--it could cause your teeth enamel to fade...
not heard any of this.
hope not... great. oh well.
Listerine may be the only non-prescription mouth rinse to carry the ADA Seal but it also has the highest alcohol content at 26.9 percent. Cool Mint Listerine is 21.6% alcohol. Plax is 7.2% alcohol. This information is not available on the label. The National Cancer Institute has reported that regular users of mouth rinses containing 25% or more alcohol could have a higher risk for oral cancer.
Everything's bad for you if you have too much of it. Even too much air or water can kill you. Listerine contains alcohol, which may be the main concern of your source, but it could also be some of the chemicals used to "disinfect" your mouth. Either way, it cannot replace brushing.
Oh great. I hope not, I use it every day!
actually If you eat yogart 2 times a day it will stop the bad breath stuff I know this from experience and found out about it from a friend at first I did not think so but about a week after eating I began to notice it so it worked for me so maybe it will for you. Of course sometimes bad breath if it is all the time comes from a serious problem. I am no doctor but after having several family members being sick and them having serious bad breath found out it was a medical condition that was terminal. I do hope any of this helps in some way.
Well I guess that's why they keep making it and in different flavors and they also have their own toothpaste, mouth strips and who knows what's next.
I started using it a couple of years ago and developed tonsillitis. I stopped using it for a while as my throat was so sore.
When I recovered I started using it again, thinking it would kill any germs and bingo, tonsillitis again.
Maybe that has only happened to me, however I saw Bill Foster's answer and now I'm thinking this product is seriously dangerous for your health.
