what causes gapping of the teeth?
Question:
Answers:
Depends on when the spaces occured. If the teeth grew in that way, it is most likely becuase you inherited a big mouth and smaller teeth. Sometimes the gap between the two front top teeth is hereditary. These conditions can be corrected with orthodontics.
Some spacing occurs if you lose bone, due to gum disease, but this is accompanied by loss of gum tissue (recession).
Other spacing can be due to losing a tooth somewhere in your mouth and not having it replaced (either with a bridge, partial, or implant).

They just grow out that way it's nothing you're doing.
Recedeing gums and gingivitis. More flossing and mouthwash will help. See a Dentist.
I think this is hereditary, but there is hope through an orthodontist to correct this problem.
i am going to assume that you are referring to the front teeth.
there is a piece of tissue called a frenum that goes from your gums to your lip on the inside of your mouth. this tissue can often be the reason for the space between the front teeth. ortho will not always fix this because sometimes- you can get everything together and they will spring back apart in no time at all- sometimes permanent retainer are bonded behind the front teeth to hold them there. and sometimes- this tissue is surgically removed,
other ways to close that space if you chose to are crowns, veneers and bonding depending on how wide the space is.
there are other causes as well, such as periodontal disease but i am thinking this is not the case in what you are asking.
