My fiancee got a filling this afternoon. The pain is an 8 on a scale of 10. What should I do since its 11pm?

Question:
It doesn't sound normal for a filling to cause swelling and bad pain. What can be done at night besides going to the emergency room?

Answers:
800 mg ibuprofen is the prescription dose and, if there are no allergies or other contraindications, I'd suggest that dose every 6 hours through the night. Keep her head elevated also.
2 aspirin and a cold compress/ice pack to the swollen area
