Why am I having pain after root canal?

Question:

I had a root canal three days ago. I've been taking Motrin & Tylenol for pain and it has controlled it very well. However last night I started having incredible shooting pain on that side of my mouth that went all the way up my jaw to behind my ear. It would last 5 minutes and then go away, then come back an hour later. It happened four different times. I slept about 5 hours, and this morning it's sore, stiff and my ear feels full like if you have water in it. The funny thing is its my upper jaw hurting, not the lower jaw where the root canal happened. Does anyone understand why this is going on? Thank you.

Sounds like you have an infection. That happened to my son and they had to give him antibiotics, which they should have right after the procodure! Im sure it will get better once you start on them..Good Luck!
