i am no dentist. but you could be grinding your teeth at night. and have been for a while which is very normal. i have done it all my life and well i have an actual problem. Do you ever get head aches near your temples? are your teeth worn down or seem chiped on the jaws like kinda rough when you run your tounge on them? does your jaw seems very tence and/or ache? you could also be clenching in your sleep. i mean all those symtoms may not be present and you could still be grinding. ask a dentist they will be able to see that you are grinding very easy. the only thing to pervent this is a mouth gaurd and they are expencive. if you have any questions about grinding feel free to ask me

Getting another opinion is always a great idea. If you're still feeling insecure about the two differing opinions, get another.
Some people practicing dentistry graduated at the bottom of their class. They're not all great.
