any suggestions on what kind of painpillers i can take to help ease the pain of braces?

Question:
i've had braces for a while..but everytime i go back to see the orthodontist, the pain is unbearable! i've tried tylenol, ibuprofen (sp), and just generic pain relievers. what would be the best medicine to take?

Answers:
I remember the pain well. Try calling your personal doctor and ask if there is something he could do such as prescribing something for you, if it's that bad. Try your orthodontist. They are doctors too. They could prescribe pain meds, but they try to stay away from it. Maybe your doctor would prescribe though. It can't hurt to ask. Try more ibuprofen then is suggested on the bottle if they don't prescribe something for you. When I'm in bad pain, I take 2-3 ibuprofens. Good luck!

u gotta bear the pain..avoind dunking pills.the pain reduces
Gotot the regular doctor and complain of back pain and you will get some real pain killers like vicodins or even something not as strong like ultra cets will work.My braces were unbearable too.nothing OTC worked.I used my moms pain meds like darvocet.. If you still are looking for OTC try aleve or advil.
you should eat food like porridge cuz when i had braces the hardest part for me was eating. it really hurts the most if you eat food that you have to chew
for me, i just tried to ignore it and the pain went away after the third day
dont worry, the pain will go completely away in three more days max

i know i shouldnt be telling you, but my co-worker lost forty pounds when she had her braces
you need to ask your dentist, due to allergies and such it's best to be safe
Try taking a couple of Aleve about 30 minutes before you go to the orthodontist then about an hour after you're done. I've done this and it has really helped to ease the pain.
You shouldnt take anything stronger than 2 tylenols or ibuprofens. you really do just need to withstand it.it's not going to help your body when you get them removed or cavities filled or such.you wont be able to access pain killers all the time and right now, you'll have pain for a long time.
