How to handle tounge piercings?...?

Question:
My 14 year old sister decided to try and pierce her own tounge with a needle in her bedroom. Have already bought antiseptic mouth wash for her, and taken the tounge-ring out. I'm just wondering if there is anything else that should be done, and what kind of warning signs to look for....

THANKS!!!

Answers:
Ok, Here is the best thing to do for the piercing. Warning signs to look for: is an akeloid. An akeloid is caused by bacteria. It will be a lump! Best thing is mouth wash 2 x a day don't over due it. Get Listerine mouth wash no flavor just plain. Signs to look for when it is healing is white scare tissue around the piercing from the wetness in the mouth you will have nothing to worry about. Tongue piercings are quite painful for at least 1 week. Also give her Motrin which will help for the swelling, pain and infection if any! Have her eat liquids for 5 days! soups, jellos and clear liquids. This should help her very well! Hopefully the jewelry or needle she had pierced her tongue with was sterilized!
with the tongue u can most def puncture the vein under ur tongue and can damage ur taste buds and many other harmful things. i think the best thing to do is take her to a dr immediately she could have definitly harmed something.
