wisdom teeth phobic?

Question:
has anyone been perscribed valium to take the morning that you get your wisdom teeth cut out? if so, did it calm you down any? the oral surgeon perscribed me a valium and is going to give me laughing gas before he puts me to sleep, but i just dont see it working to calm me down. and does laughing gas just plain f u up so you dont care what they do??

Answers:
Yes the valium will relax you. Then, when combined with the laughing gas it makes you even more relaxed. Trust the doctor and the medication he's got planned for you. They do this every day, day in and day out. You're not the first one he's ever had who's been nervous about getting this done. And beware the nutcases on here who will give you they're own weird advice on what they think about medication.

Other Answers:
Take the valium. It takes the edge off of your anxiety.

If you don't trust the doctor go see someone else.

Cinderella is nuts. Having your wisdom teeth removed generally prevents jaw alignment problems. You have the teeth pulled because your jaws are already overcrowded. Check some of her other answers. "Ice causes tooth enamel to erode", for example.

don't take valium please that is really dangerous.please go to another oral surgeon.and please get your wisdom teeth taken out
because if you don't and they get impacted?you'll get tmj from it.
tempro mandibular joint syndrom.

cinderellamirage you will be quite relaxed after the valium kicks in. get someone else to drive. they probably told you that already. relax it will be OK. as for the nitrous oxide. :) wish they would give it to those of us that don't freak out at the dentist. my daughter was the same as you. she freaked out on me for days before, then acted like it was nothing after.
david is pretty much right about the cindi thing. don't worry.

Oh lord, Cindy, what are you talking about?

This is a very standard approach to wisdom teeth extraction. You're having oral surgery that involves being asleep. Who wouldn't be nervous? Like the earlier answer said, if you don't trust the doctor, see someone else. But this sounds pretty routine.
