Answers:
Ask your dentist for gas and air, it will help you feel more relaxed, or if your really nervous ask to be refered to a clinic to have IV sedation.I always have gas and air when i have treatment as I'm so nervous, and I'm a dental nurse!!!!!!

Other Answers:
Well, I hope you are wise enough to explain that to your dentist that you are going to experience these attacks and need to be calmed down. You are not the only one with this problem of going to the dentist before.
Then, they will have you relax-heck, maybe give you something to knock you right out so that you do not have to even worry about the drill.
you must let the dentist know how you are feeling, im sure he/she will be able to reasure you.
could try some ear plugs while the dentist works away
it's great , going to see everyone's favorite person , have a great time
ok listen....nobody truly likes goin to the dentist, but it's one of those things you must do.....try to keep yourself as calm as possible....Think only pleasant thoughts. Also, summon every ounce of courage you have in your body and just keep telling yourself over and over you will get thru this. There are far more worse things in life. Take for instance, our guys in iraq who are losing their lives. Think of a soldier who gets wounded, but still continues to fight....Think of the pain he is in....Does it now make your ordeal seem less frightening?....You can do it, i have faith in you. Good luck. Your brave....
Let the dentist know in advance that youre nervous. You are not alone as im sure there are plenty of people in your situation. My dad is the same. Just remember that your teeth are really important to you and you will just have to be brave. I hate needles, but give blood every 4 months and once ive done it I feel really proud of myself and glad that I did it. Good luck x
i too suffer badly from a fear of the dentist. take a walkman in (tell the dentist why your doing it) with you and play loud music whilst they work on you (not hearing the drill makes a big difference). Also close your eyes. You've just deprived two of your senses, and with the painkillers you shouldn't be able to feel much.

If you do all this, you wont be able to see, hear or feel anything. It makes it easier, other than that just lay there and cry, thats what i do.

if your taking rescue remedy you MUST tell your dentist you've taken it.

good luck!
just keep thinking i'm gonna have agreat smile after this.
I have the same problem. I Had to swap dentists a few months ago and going to a new dentist really made me scared, especially when they told me I needed work to my teeth. I pass out with needles and really don't take the anaesthetic very well. I explained how i was feeling to him and my circumstances. It is great now. He chats to me more to subdue my nerves and settle me. he also explains in detail what he is doing rather than let the nerves in my mind work it out for themselves which is normally worse. It can help when you know what they are doing. If all else fails ear plugs and shut eyes, just be careful not to drop off t sleep.
