Does it hurt when u get braces on the 1st time??What should I expect?

The older you are, the more it seems to hurt. Teens don't seem to have a problem, adults do. It's really hard to say whether or not you will. I am in my 30s and got braces this last Feb. The top hurt badly for a few weeks. They had to move my front teeth forward before they could get braces on the bottom. The bottom braces were put on recently and I was expecting them to hurt for weeks as well, but they did not. It actually wasn't a big deal.
Also, a lot of the orthodontists are using titanium wires now and they hold their shape which results in less pain in the long run. With the titanium wires, there are no more painful "adjustments". It's just a matter of going in every few weeks to get the bands changed and thicker wires here and there.

the first couple of weeks hurt like hell while all of your teeth move into position. i remember i was eatting a lot of applesauce, and other foods of the same consistency.but i am quite happy with the results.so stick it out, and everything will be good.
no it does not. but if your weak it well.
it can be uncomfortable but not unbearable, try an aspirin to relieve the pain and comfort food like mashed potatoes and soup, but in the end it is so worth it in the end, and don't forget to floss when you get your braces, its sooo important!
No it doesnt hurt but you may need to have teeth pulled out to make room in your mouth.
You can do a lot to ease the pain if you feel that it is making your daily routines difficult. Pain killers are a good option and remember to pay attention to what you eat. Ice cream works just perfectly!
Pain (if you have any) is not the only thing you might need to think about. Your dentist will most likely tell you how to brush your teeth and braces and you'll get specific brushes to do that. It is really important to learn to clean your braces properly and spend some time on doing so - otherwise your teeth might get some colored "stains". You might want to brush your teeth very gently in the beginning since they might feel sore.
Last but not least, braces don't like taffy and other hard candies. Follow the nutritional instructions of your dentist. Moreover, if you then eat something hard, that might hurt in the beginning, too.
Good luck! :)
The braces are not what hurt me so bad. It was the spacers they use before hand to get you ready. After that the braces were a cake walk. You will adjust quickly and and forget you have anything in your mouth.

while your getting them on no but after wards yes it does, well for most people at least, if your use to bitting down on loose teeth and sore gums then maybe it wont for you, its going to hurt if you bite down, when you eat, and if you mess with your teeth with your tongue, but the pain wont last forever trust me, oh and the best pain reliever is sleep and Advil
