What is the thing inside my tooth?

Yesterday, i had an appointment with my dentist. I need to see her because she needs to take away my decaying tooth. When she successfully removed it, i took it for souvenir. Later when i got home, i checked my old decaying tooth. I saw a FLESH above the tooth. I was just wondering what it is? Is it a tumor? or Ingrone? or wat?

If it's flesh at the end of the root, it's probably the abscess sack. If it's near the crown, it's probably some gum tissue.

Was it an old piece of bologna ?
Or is it only an overgrowth of your gum line.
