Should I have a root canal or pull it?
Question:
Answers:
Have you gone to an endodontist? They specialize in root canals and difficult dental problems. I had one tooth with extremely long and tangled roots. It took several visits but it was taken care of by an endodontist. Try to save your tooth if you can.

pull it!!
Depends on where the tooth is. If it's in the back and unnoticable in your smile- have the thing pulled and be done with it. you need to go to an orthodontist and let them do an endoplasty, this seals the end of the root so you will quit getting abcesses.look up endoplsty on computer and it will help you understand more completely!
pull it otherwise they wiil have to go in sideways through the jaw to get at the tip which the did to me. Now Iafter 10 yrs I'm going to have it yanked anyway because for another reason it keeps getting infected.
They always want to have you keep your teeth by default. If you have a cronic tooth infection think about the probability your vascular health may be in jeparody!!
I would go see an endodontist, which is a specialist that only does root canals. There are other ways of doing a root canal that a general dentist can't do. Hope this helps. Good luck
If you have it extracted, remember to have the tooth replaced by a bridge or implant. If you do not then you run the risk of have other teeth supererupt or shift or tilt into the space where the tooth was. Many times dentists will take out a tooth and not mention this, until problems occur and it is too late!
Did you have general dentists do the root canals or endodontists (root canal specialists)? Are you sure it is the tooth? Sometimes people actually have what is called Trigeminal Neuralgia which can present as apparent tooth pain and is treated with root canals. Only the pain does not go away.
If you want to treat the tooth again, go to an endodontist and relay your concerns. The next step would be an apicoectomy, where they go thru the side of the bone to get to the tip of the roots, and actually 'trim' off the tips. Sometimes this treatment will end up being more expensive than having the tooth removed and replaced with a bridge or implant. And there is no guarantee of success. You just have to factor in all the options and possible outcomes, and cost. See what works best for you!
Good Luck!
