what happens if i leave a shaved tooth as it is?

Question:
i had a crown fitted and i absolutely hated it. it was placed on my milk teeth. (i still have my milk teeth bec. theres no more teeth to replace it). the teeth was already small before it was shaved. so i was thinking since it was shaved a little i would have composite resin placed on it just a little bit so that it would come back to its original size..which is small. if they don't agree to do it, will leaving it as it is ok?

Answers:
if you had a crown fitted, then chances are the teeth are really shaved down and a crown is the only way to restore it. take it from me, being an RDA dental assistant.I know that you can't put composite resin on a crown because 1.) it's probably too small as you said 2.) composites also wear down over time and 3.) if you leave it as it is, you're going to experience a lot of discomfort, sensitivity and pain on that tooth (if you haven't already had a root canal). If you haven't had a root canal..leaving that tooth exposed will definitely trigger it and allow room for decay. If the fit of the crown doesn't feel right, tell your dentist to adjust it. If you want it sent back to the lab, tell your dentist to do that also.

Whatever the case, you need this crown.and not getting it is going to cost you much more in the long run. Good Luck!!

I'm confused by your question. What are milk teeth? Your baby teeth? And did your crown fall off? Or you want to take it off? It's best to have a crown on it if it was already prepped for one. If you don't like the crown tell your dentist and they should redo it. If you just leave it prepped w/o a crown it isn't very strong and will eventually break apart.

you really should keep the crown on because all your enamel that protects your teeth has been removed and without the crown you can get tooth decay real easy and things can get worse.
