Its not attached to the bone its a muscle which is attached to the soft tissues linning of the mouth which is attached to the upper and lower jaws by the periodontal membrane
Most likely some sort of muscle or tendon. just a guess, I'm far from a doctor though.
it's not attached to any bones. it's attached in the muscles in the throat. although when i use my tongue on on my wife i get a bone
