How long does it take to talk normally after getting braces?

well it depends from one person to another. My cousin had told me the same thing..but when I got braces , I was still talking like before. It takes about 1 -2 weeks for the mouth to get adjusted to the foreign object. But it's not that a big deal. I'm wearing braces from the past 8 months. Sometimes I even forget that i'm wearing them coz i'm so used to it . And I eat all types of food, be it popcorn or peanuts. As for spitting, hasn't happened to me. You might face that till you get adjusted..but don't worry, it's not as bad as it sounds.

I never even talked differently when I had braces. I didn't have to "relearn" how to talk. it takes however long you have to have them on, usually 2 years.
You don't need to relearn to talk, and when I had braces I never spit on anyone!
For me and my sister and brothers, it only took a few days, although eating is a different story. You will constantly be trying to pick food out of your braces with your tongue and it will be stuck in them where you cant see it which is just about as bad as spitting on someone.

Orthodonist Tell You How Long, But Normally There Wrong, Ive Gotten To The Point That I'm Use To Them. When People Ask Me When They Comeoff I Just Tell Them I Just Stopped Worrying Bout It. Being I Was Told So Many Months. Ive Seen People Go A Yr With Them. Only thing that is the problem is when u first get them and when they tightening them, your teeth hurt badley. and for the spitting, yeah that does happen. well all i can ya is good luck to ya and that u dont have to keep them long I had mine for 9 long years, but it took about 2 weeks for me. You'll be fine just try to hold your spit in.
