How old should they be when the plug is pulled out?

Question: Seeing two year olds and even one year old toddlers with passifiers in their mouths are my greatest pet peeve. To me a plug should be taken away not later than six months. How old do you feel a baby should be when passifier is removed?

My 2 1/2 yr old grandson still has his. I thought I'd buy him a new one when he starts school. My view? Don't give them the damn things in the first place. I hate them too.

Whenever the kid feels ready, sheesh- have a little sympathy their still eating milk at that point.
