Where in the UK can I get my mercury fillings removed?
Question:
Answers:
Mr Moonlight's right. Pity your fillings weren't gold - you could have used them to pay the bill!
Other Answers:
Any dentist will be happy to do it. You just have to ask them!
Most dont offer these services but will hapily do them when asked.
You will have to pay, of course..
You can get them removed at any dentist. They will ALWAYS try to convince you there is nothing wrong with them and you need to keep them. Which is absolute twoddle. I had mine refused twice and I told the dentist "If you don't take them out, I will find someone who will, so either you get the money, or one of your competitors will". So they took them out.
I had health problems that my doctor couldn't resolve after umpteen blood tests and 3 courses of different tablets. He even refused me a toxicology test, twice. As I guessed it was the mercury fillings. (It's an NHS conspiracy, if they admit to Mercury causing so many problems, then they wouldn't be able to pay everyone off when they were sued. It's a cheap way to do the job). I had all mine taken out and replaced with porcelain, it is expensive though, it cost me £1800 - but, it's been worth it for my health :) If you want to know anything else about it just give me a shout :)
The dentist would be a good start.
Try phoning your local health authority and ask for advice.
ask a dentist & they will tell you if they will remove them for you coz some may wish not to do it. plus if you have an NHS dentist they will not do white fillings on molar teeth for you.
most dentists will do that if you really want it done. but in alot of cases the composite fillings are just nowhere as long lasting as the amalgam or silver ones and if the filling covers more than 2 surfaces - it just will not hold up to chewing on the posterior teeth.. there was a big scare some time back about mercury and really, it was alot of hot air. ALL of the dentists, hugienist and assistants i know ALL have amalgams and have no problem with it. i've assisted on placing them on my own kids . it was alot of hoopla over nothing.
