Is it normal when a tooth is extracted and the one next to it is loose and the gum area is sore?
Question:
Answers:
yes, its normal, it will tighten up. the pain is bruising, and should go away in a few days. If the pain gets worse, or you think its infected, call the doctor. just don'tpoke at the hole, drink through a straw, or smoke. sucking can cause dry socket, and that is twice as painful as getting the tooth yanked!
Other Answers:
sure. lol now stop playing with it
Tooth extractions are pretty tramatic to the sourrounding tissues. I would not be at all suprised if there was some soreness for a day or more afterwords.
However if you are concerned about it, or are afraid that there might be any kind of infection - a call to the DR. is never inapropreate.
I'm a dentist.
I'm sure you've realized by now that we don't simply put a pair of pliers on the tooth and pull. We use certain instruments to elevate the tooth, which automatically puts some pressure on the adjacent tooth.
The answer to your question is "yes and no", and whichever it is depends on various factors including the skill of the doctor, the periodontal health of both the extracted and the adjacent tooth, and the surgical involvement of the extracted tooth.
Rather than get in to the various scenarios, you need to make sure you have an accurate definition of the term "loose". If the tooth wiggles less than, say, half a millimeter in either direction, this would not be considered "loose". That type of mobility can sometimes happen during periods of inflammation which can certainly occur from extraction of an adjacent tooth. If, however, you're talking about a tooth that moves 1mm or more in either direction where it didn't before, I'd say that's abnormal. "Abnormal" does not mean, however, that it the tooth won't become more rigid within a couple of weeks.
Go ahead and call the doctor, but don't make any accusations.
Yes, if the dentist sucks, a dental office is like a production line. they tear around at your gums and teeth and when your 15 min time slot is up, they stop and insist you make another appointment.$$$$$$$$.if you feel that a dentist did not do a good job, report him/them. they have been known to sell you a root canal and the end result you lose the tooth anyway. $$$$$$$$$$.believe me it he is having a bad day you are getting a bad job. personally i got a tooth extracted and a piece of tooth was left in the gum. it got infected and i went back to get it removed, which they did and to insult me more they sent me a bill for their f. up. don't ever be afraid to get a second opinion as some dentist are HACKERS...So mr. Dentist, what do you have to say now
