Does medicaid cover braces in Albuquerque NM?
Question:
Answers:
In Missouri, braces are covered by Medicaid for children under the age of 21 with prior authorization from Medicaid by an ortodontist. All work must be completed before he reaches 21. Hope this gives you an idea about what to ask your caseworker.

call medicaid and see. my daughter just got them here in ga
usually I don't think health insurance covers braces. they may pay a small portion of it like mine did. but orthodontists have different pay plans, you might be able to get something for monthly payments. your son having to hold his jaw when he eats sounds pretty serious though, when i had a click in my jaw they sent me for a MRI to make sure I didn't have jtm or tjm, I forget what it's called.
I think as long as its a child covered by Medicaid, it will be covered, but not for an adult. An adult must pay, because of all the cut backs. I read an article about how they were going to start cutting back on stuff like braces for children as well that are receiving Medicaid. They may not pay for it all, but you may only have to pay part of the cost. Probably not half, but part of it.
I would call "Social Security Administration". Do a search at "switchboard" or you can look in your phone book under that. Hope all works out for you and your son.
