I would like some info on wisdom teeth removal?

Question:
I will have to have my wisdom teeth out very soon, and I'm assuming they will put me under. I was just wondering what the procedure entails, how long it takes to get over it, is there a high risk of complications, etc. Thank you!

Answers:
Took me about a week to get over it. Not really a high rish of complications. the link below has more information of what it entails and information on complications. You should ask your dentist those questions.
It depends on if your teeth are impacted or not. Usually, you are sedated and the dentist will remove it. You usually won't know it until you are done. Of course, there are some risks but I think they are far in between.
I had mine removed before they came up. They put in an IV, hooked me up to some machines to take readings of my blood pressure and pulse. I was put to sleep but before I was told they would also inject me with pain relievers. Turns out they only did it on one side. I woke up in the m iddle of the operation and stayed awake and I could feel EVERYTHING! My brother said I was one tough cookie.
was along time ago, but i remember vividly. the day before thanksgiving. they put me under, only gave me tylenols. i wound up with a dry socket and we had a primal ne ohio blizzard that night. woke up to 36" of snow and a painful mouth. had to shavel snow for 3 hours, gor so cold i forgot about the pain.lol was bad but not that bad. you'll be fine
god bless
ok.. I feel so sorry for you I'm still not over mine. :[
I had it 8 days ago and there is still a little pain now. This is my 2nd time getting surgery for my impacted wisdom tooth. Its hurts severely for 3 days. And i have 2 impacted teeh left to be removed. What a pain.
I'm a little odd. I didn't have mine removed until I was 32 years old.

I was feeling fine, never had a single problem, absolutely no pain. A dentist looked at my x-ray and said the bottom two needed to come out. I scheduled an appointment with an oral surgeon, they hooked up the IV and I was out. The procedure is nothing. The last thing you feel is the IV and you leave with a prescription for pain. I had mine done on a friday and arranged to take off from work monday. Tuesday I was good enough to work, not great but good enough.

But then... one got infected. The pain was absolutely horrific. Three weeks later I felt worse than I did the day after the procedure.

Moral to the story is if you are 32 years old and have no pain from your wisdom teeth, LEAVE THEM THERE.

Sorry to scare you, mine was a worse case scenario.

The procedure is nothing. After the IV is in, you're home free. Don't feel guilty about enjoying the prescription pain meds. 36 to 48 hours after will be worse than 12 hours after. Expect your head to swell to absolutely comical dimensions. On the fourth day you will be sore and swollen, but should be able to function normally. Two weeks later, you're at about 95% and rising.
i agree with above poster, if they are not causing you pain or harm, do NOT remove them. the procedure itself was cake, the pain after was bad yes, and it did take 10-14 days to eat "normally" again for myself anyway.. but mine werent causing me problems i just opted to have them out b/c i had insurance at the time (i was 25 i think?). Anyway, i have a permanent lingual nerve injury that causes me CONSTANT burning, tingling sensation in my tongue and mouth. not a pleasant thing to think i have to live with it the rest of my life.. Sometimes, its painful (like when i have a cold). Not trying to freak you out but it IS a possible complication.. some people end up with completely numb tongues or mouths forever or nerve pain forever too.. these are all possibilities. anyway, i certainly regret it.
