Should I have been charged? PART DEUX?

Question:
Well it looks like a non-profit sells the Hawley Retainers for $49.00. I can not believe the markup on that (I should call Dateline). Also, a dental expert said the retainer is to prevent any futher moving of the tooth but after 30 years I thing that the space would not have changed in 2 weeks. He should have put the darn wire on to begin with. I think I will write a business letter. Should I copy my Dental Plan Administator on it or wait on that?

Answers:

You should copy everyone on your letter that could shut this guy down if you believe he has committed mal practice. I think anyone that takes advantage of another person in any way should be made to leave the planet. You should also copy the state medical board and the national board of Dental Practicioners or what ever the heck they call themselves.
I don't know the consumer laws in the US but in the UK you can complain both to the dental association AND to trading standards (in the same way as you would complain in any other consumer dispute). Just because it is medical care doesn't make it immune from fitness for purpose and 'reasonable' performance requirements.
