does Incisalign Braces REALLY work?

Do they really straighten your teeth? if so does it hurt? how much does it usually cost? Please Help.

Yes, Invisalign works fantastically! It is fascinating technology where your impressions that are taken in the dental office or “best” orthodontist’s office of your choice and then are sent to the Invisalign company. They are laser scanned by a computer that fabricates the series of trays that will straighten your teeth. These trays are switched every two weeks until the end of your treatment. There is a lot less discomfort to endure then with traditional braces. This is mainly because the method of promoting movement of the teeth into alignment is completely different. With traditional braces all of your teeth are first moved forward to create space for the alignment to be possible, then slowly brought back inward as the alignment is achieved. This is cause for a lot of movement which is painful. Invisalign on the other hand moves the teeth into alignment by rotation of focused single teeth at a time. So there is much less movement thus less pain. Plus you can take them out while eating, brushing and flossing by normal means. (Not having to tread floss under the wires of traditional braces.) During your treatment you will likely have interproximal reductions done, what this does is removes .5 mm or less from the sides of the teeth in specific areas to create space for movement to take place. It is very gradual and your teeth will not appear any different in size because it is such a minimal reduction. (In between your teeth)
Usually the treatment takes about a year, depending on the case. The trays at first are seemingly uncomfortable and may affect your speech slightly but after about a week or so they become a part of you. You may have to take aspirin or an anti-inflammatory for the first few days after starting a new set of trays. Have a consultation with an orthodontist to determine whether you are a good candidate for the Invisalign process.
The cost is roughly around $5000.00 and some insurance companies will provide coverage. I have eleven and a half years experience as a chair side assistant and handled most of all of the Invisalign clients in the office at the time. Plus I also have had traditional braces as a child and then Invisalign to correct orthodontic relapse from losing my retainers in my younger years. Invisalign was perfect to correct the shifting that had occurred over the years.
