I have Denti-cal and I don't want mercury fillings, what do I do?
Question:
Answers:
There are lot of options in filling materials now . The best and cheapest is Glass ionomer. Light curable composites are also the best. These do not cost as much as porcelein.
Other Answers:
Pay for the difference. Whatever Denti-Cal doesn't cover. Out of pocket.
If you can't afford the plastic (white, AKA composite) fillings now what make you think that you will be able to pay for them when they prematurely fail. The work only gets bigger and worse. FYI Denti-Cal does pay for white fillings at the Amalgam rate. If your dentist doesn't want to place them find someone who will.
