Sometimes when you don't brush your teeth enough your gums start getting puffy & red. They are telling you that you need to brush more. If you do have slightly poor oral hygiene, you should brush until your gums bleed, to this until they stop being red & puffy. Sounds like an oxymoroan, but it works.

If you have any signs of periodontal disease, it is possible that your gums will bleed for a litte while. Rinsing with some warm salt water will typically help.
The answer for the question is don't wait. Start flossing tomorow. They will bleed for several weeks because you problably have periodontal disease, that's why you got the cleaning. So if you nothing you will not be building up gum tone. Your gums will continue to bleed every time you floss. Start flossing and brushing right away in three to four weeks you will be amazed that your gums stop bleeding, look healthier and your future dental cleanings will be a lot less painfull.
rinse with warm salt water but it should stop by tomorrow
