When people that wear dentures die, do they bury them with their dentures in?
Question:
Answers:
Wow. I guess it depends on your religion.
In Judaism, the dentures are removed, along with all other items that are not part of the body.
I think that in religions/cultures where the body is embalmed and put on display in an open coffin, with makeup and clothes and everything, the dentures would be left in.

It depends on the instructions given by the deceased in advance or the deceased's family. Either option is ok.
I found a little blurb .. If the deceased had been wearing dentures in the previous week or two, put them back in. If he/she had not worn them for a month, don't attempt to put them back in; an embalmer will use a "mouth former." But, take the deceased's dentures to the funeral home and let them decide on how they want to handle the situation. It depends on what the person wants. My mother had them and had them in and was cremated with them in. She would be embarrassed without them in.
The next of kin would decide if they want them kept in or not.
My father died Dec. 2004, and I now smile with his teeth--just kidding-- I discovered my fathers dentures months after his burial. I dont think that dentures are required to form facial features after death for burial, if it was, the funeral directors wolud have requested them. There's a saying-"once a man, twice a child"--when we came into the world we were toothless, so.
i never thought about that, good question! interesting question!! i never thought about it.
