Are there any symptoms from losing teeth?

Question: My cousin is about to lose one of her front teeth. Her gums look kind of swollen, though, and my mom says that they've changed color a bit, like darkened. Is this just normal or should we probably go see a dentist?

I recently lost my front teeth and my gums got a little redder before I lost them. It happened little by little so I didn't really notice it til my teeth were really loose. If it isn't a baby tooth she should probly get to a dentist quick before she looses them all.
