I have tmj..?

headaches, dizziness, my jaws hurts. Sounds like mine, do your ears ring as well ? Mine do. But the biggest problem I have is the fact that my jaw no longer works correctly. I can open my mouth only 1/2 in in the front. That is the bottom of the top teeth and to the top of the bottom teeth. I had tons of X-rays, cat scans, and mri's done. No one has been able to find out just why . One maxillofacial surgeon said he could fix the problem with jaw hinge replacement surgery. By using one of my ribs to make new replacement hinges. or I could go with the stainless steel replacements. Either way is about $50,000. So I opted to do nothing. So I just live with it . hope that you get to feeling better.

I get headaches, neckaches, shoulderaches, my jaws hurt all the time and they pop almost every time I open my mouth. It's a real pain in the a$$ to deal with, but you get used to it eventually. I had braces and it didn't make my TMJD better or worse. I hope something works out for you to at least ease the pain. :)
Hi Amber, I had it until I got braces. But mine was so bad my jaw locked while yawning and pregnant on a boating trip. They relaxed me and my jaw (with a very weak sedative) and my jaw eventually released it's open mouth lock. It looked hilarious but felt bad!
My symptoms were : teeth grinding at night, grouchy all the time cause my jaw hurt so bad and just generally grouchy cause I was not sleeping well nor functioning well when I was awake till I got braces.
I also got a bite guard that helped tremendouly. It will go away (10 years later) I have no symptoms or TMJ :-)))
Wishing you a healthy recovery!
My jaws hurt all the time and I couldn't figure out why. Eventually a good dentist made a mouth guard for me and it was like a miracle. My jaws quit hurting the first time I wore it.
You may have a more serious case and require more than a mouth guard but you won't know until you try it.
Get a referral from your dentist to someone who deals with this kind of stuff (if he can't do it himself) and get yourself checked out. It could make an amazing difference in your life.
I was diagnosed with TMD as a teenager. Had braces, it helped with the headaches. Only recently has it ever bothered me since I was a child. Two months my jaw locked up on me. I can only open a little bit. I was in terrible pain the first month, now it isn't as bad. Still hurts to eat, yawn, etc. My symptoms are headaches (bad) and dizziness as well. My oral surgeon wants to do a procedure but my insurance will not cover anything having to do with TMD. Good luck!
