Infected Gum?

Question:
What can be done about a gum that may be infected? I got a tooth pulled and ther areal doesn't seem to be healing right. Looks like it may be infected and there's a nasty odor. I've been doing everything they told me to do. No suctioning, rinsing with warm salt water. Could it maybe have soemthing to do with the fact that I didn't take any anti-biotics? Would they have to do surgery? Help!

Answers:
Use some peroxide and warm water it will bubble but will also help any infection. Also if you want at the drug store you can get glyoxide it is a jel type peroxide used just for this problem...After 4 days if it doesn't start to clear up call your dentist...Good Luck

Other Answers:
Go see your dentist right away and get on antibiotics
they will probably give you another round of antibiotics. call them before it gets worse. m
First of all I wouldn't take anybody's suggestions besides a doctor, my brother nearly died from a tooth infection its nothing to joke around about. I would go to a doctor and be like "Hey fix this" and they should. If its painful or discolored there is a problem with it.
Yes, it probably has a lot -- if not everything-- to do with not taking the antibiotics. Especially if you had a tooth pulled because it was absessd or decayed. And, even if it wasn't you basically had an open wound in your mouth, which is full of bacteria and can be prone to infection.

Your best bet right now would be to call the dentist or oral surgeon who removed it, confess to not taking the antibiotics (trust me, this won't be the first time they'be heard this), and tell them what's going on. IMMEDIATELY. LIKE STOP READING THIS AND CALL.

They'll either want you to start the antibiotics immediately, and schedule you to come in later this week, or they'll want to see you right away and provide a different antibiotic-- you may even need a stronger one, since the one they prescribed originally was probably prophylatic (meaning that it was designed to prevent an infection not to treat one) and now you may need to treat the infection itself.

Don't wait on this-- you don't want to end up with what's called a dry socket, or an absess. They can be serious and very painful...

Best of luck!
Yes get yourself back to the dentist ASAP. These things can get serious. HOPE you get well soon.
If the tooth was pulled 4-5 days ago, it sounds like you have a dry socket. Go back to the dentist immediately. Treatment for dry socket is _usually_ extremely simple in the early stages and it will get rid of the nasty odor right away.
